1. General Information

We are pleased that you are using our application “streaknest” (hereinafter “App”). The protection of your personal data is important to us.

2. Data Collection When Using the App

When you download and use our App, certain data is processed to ensure the functionality and stability of the App.

2.1 Device and Usage Data

When you use the App, we automatically process technical data to ensure the App runs correctly:

  • Device type and operating system (e.g., iOS or Android)
  • IP address (anonymized where possible)
  • Date and time of access
  • App crashes and performance data
  • Installation ID: A randomly generated ID to identify the app installation (without identifying you personally).

The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (Legitimate Interest) to ensure the technical operation of the App.

2.3 Newsletter & Marketing Automation (Klaviyo) 

We use the service Klaviyo to send you newsletters, product updates, and personalized marketing communications via email, provided you have given us your consent or we are legally permitted to do so.

  • Provider: Klaviyo, Inc., 125 Summer St, Floor 6, Boston, MA 02111, USA.
  • Data Processed: To send you relevant emails, we transmit your email address, your name (if provided), and data about your usage behavior within the App (e.g., subscription status, last active date) to Klaviyo. This allows us to send you tailored information that matches your interests.
  • Legal Basis:
    • If you actively subscribed (e.g., via a checkbox): Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (Consent).
    • If we send you information about similar products/features based on your existing user relationship: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (Legitimate Interest) in conjunction with § 7 (3) UWG.
  • Data Transfer: Data is transferred to the USA. Klaviyo processes data in accordance with the GDPR and relies on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure an adequate level of data protection.
  • Unsubscribe: You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link in the footer of every email or by contacting us directly.

2.2 Push Notifications

To support your habit tracking, the App can send you push notifications (reminders, streak alerts).

  • How it works: To send a notification to your specific device, we must transmit a pseudonymous identifier (Device Token or FCM Token) to the notification service provider (Apple or Google). This token does not contain your name or email.
  • Service Providers:
    • Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) for iOS devices.
    • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for Android devices.
  • Control: You can enable or disable push notifications at any time in your device settings or the App settings.
  • Legal Basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (Performance of Contract – providing the reminder service you requested).

3. User Account & Registration

You have the option to register a user account to sync your data across devices, save your progress, and use community features. The data processing depends on the registration method you choose and your usage of social features..

3.1 Registration Methods

  • Email & Password: If you register directly with us, we collect and store your email address and a password (which is stored in an encrypted format).
  • Social Sign-In (Apple & Google): You can also sign up or log in using third-party services (Apple or Google). If you choose this option, we receive authentication data from the respective provider to verify your identity. This typically includes your email address and a unique user identifier (User ID). We may also receive your name if you have authorized the provider to share it. We do not have access to your Apple or Google account passwords.

3.2 Community Features (“Nest”)

  • Data Sharing within Groups: The “Nest” feature allows you to form groups with other users to share progress. By joining or creating a Nest, you acknowledge and agree that your profile name, habit titles, current streaks, and completion status will be visible to all other members of that specific group.
  • Control: You control this sharing by choosing which Nests to join. You can stop sharing this data at any time by leaving the Nest.

Legal Basis: The processing of data for your account and the “Nest” feature is based on Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (performance of a contract), as these data transfers are necessary to provide the features requested by you.

4. Payment & Subscription Management

We offer paid features (streaknest Pro subscriptions). We use specialized service providers to manage these payments and subscriptions securely.

4.1 Payment Processing (App Stores)

Payments are processed directly through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not collect or store your payment data (e.g., credit card numbers, bank details). This financial data is processed solely by Apple or Google.

4.2 Subscription Management (RevenueCat)

To manage your subscriptions and check your “Pro” status across devices, we use the technical service provider RevenueCat.

  • Provider: RevenueCat, Inc., 1032 E Brandon Blvd #3003, Brandon, FL 33511, USA.
  • Data Processed: RevenueCat receives an anonymous App User ID (or your internal User ID if you are logged in) and data regarding your purchase history (e.g., subscription start/end date, product ID). It does not receive your real name or payment details.
  • Purpose: To validate your subscription status and restore purchases.
  • Legal Basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (Performance of Contract).
  • Data Transfer: Data is transferred to the USA. RevenueCat ensures data protection via Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

5. Analytics & Improvements

To improve our App, we use analytics services to understand how users interact with the interface.

5.1 Google Analytics for Firebase

We use Google Analytics to analyze usage behavior (e.g., which screens are used most). IP anonymization is active.

  • Provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
  • Legal Basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (Legitimate Interest) or Consent where required.

5.2 Crash Reporting (Firebase Crashlytics)

To improve app stability, we use Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous crash reports (e.g., stack traces, device state at the time of crash). This helps us fix bugs quickly.

6. Account Deletion & Data Retention

You have full control over your data. In compliance with App Store and Google Play guidelines:

6.1 How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time directly within the App:

  1. Open the Settings menu in Streaknest.
  2. Select “Your Profile”.
  3. Tap “Delete Account” and confirm.

What happens when you delete your account:

  • Your login credentials (email/password) are removed from our database.
  • Your habit history, streaks, and settings are permanently deleted.
  • This action is irreversible.

Note: Deleting the account does not automatically cancel your App Store / Google Play subscription. You must cancel the subscription manually in your phone settings.

6.2 Retention Period

If you do not delete your account, we retain your data for as long as your account is active to provide you with the service. If an account is inactive for a significant period (24 months), we reserve the right to delete it after prior notice.

As a data subject, you have the following rights under the GDPR:

  • Right to Information (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Right to Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Right to Deletion (“Right to be forgotten”) (Art. 17 GDPR)
